Hikurangi is getting ready to glow once again as Light Up Hikurangi returns for its third year ~ and this year is shaping up to be the biggest and brightest yet ✨
For one special winter evening, the village centre will come alive with lights, laughter, music, delicious food, market stalls and whānau fun as the community comes together to celebrate Matariki, the Māori New Year.
Rug up, gather your people and soak up the atmosphere as Hikurangi transforms into a vibrant celebration filled with warmth, connection and local spirit.

Expect a lively night packed with entertainment, music, interactive activities, tamariki fun and community creativity around every corner — including the return of the crowd-favourite hay rides thanks to Rouse Motorcycles 🚜💨

From hot food and sweet treats to local crafts, makers and community stalls, there’ll be plenty to explore both inside and outside the hall. Come hungry and ready to wander.

This year also introduces the first-ever “Light Up Your Business” competition, with local businesses invited to light up Hikurangi with creative Matariki-themed displays throughout the township.
