ANZAC Day 2026: Services & Parades Across the Tutukākā Coast & Hikurangi

Communities across the Tutukākā Coast and surrounding areas will come together this ANZAC Day to remember, reflect, and honour those who served.
From dawn services to local parades and community gatherings, here’s what’s happening across Ngunguru, Whananaki, Hikurangi and the wider coast.

HIKURANGI ANZAC PARADE
The Hikurangi ANZAC Parade will form up outside the War Memorial Hall before stepping off at 10:00am.
The parade will march to the Hikurangi School grounds, where the commemorative service will take place.
If the weather is wet, the service will be held inside the Memorial Hall.

The Hikurangi Museum will also be open 9.30am to 1pm, offering a chance to reflect on local stories and history.

Poppy Day – Hikurangi Friday 24 April
Hikurangi has long shown strong support for Poppy Day, and collectors will be out around town on Friday.

WHANANAKI REMEMBRANCE SERVICE
10:30amThe Whananaki community will gather for a Remembrance Service at Whananaki School, honouring those who served in a setting that reflects the strength of this close-knit coastal community.Following the service, everyone is invited to the Whananaki Hall for refreshments.

ANZAC DAY Whananaki

NGUNGURU – DAWN SERVICE
6:00am:
Join the community at first light for a Dawn Service at the Ngunguru Sports & Recreation Club hall (change in location due to the weather), a time for quiet reflection as the sun rises.
After the service, head back to the club for breakfast, a warm drink, and time to connect with others.
