There’s plenty happening behind the scenes at the Hikurangi Museum right now. The museum is closed throughout January 2026 while important work is underway ~ reorganising and cataloguing artefacts, conserving items, and refreshing displays to better showcase Hikurangi’s history.

Excitingly, the museum has also launched its own website, making local history easier to explore online. The site will grow week by week into a rich resource covering Hikurangi’s people, places, events, and industries, thanks to funding support from Lotteries and COGs.

• Saturdays: 10.00am–1.00pm

The team is still available via the website and Facebook Messenger during January ~ and can’t wait to welcome visitors back soon.
