Discover the heart of our community at the Hikurangi Friendship House Library!
Located on King Street, the Hikurangi Community Library is a volunteer-run space owned by the Friendship House Trust. With around 100 books rotated monthly from the Whangārei Mobile Library Bus, plus new titles added each year, the shelves stay fresh for readers of all ages.
Alongside free book loans, the library offers practical services including WiFi access ($1 = 15 mins, $2 = 30 mins, $3 = 1 hour), public computer use, photocopying (20c per A4, 30c double-sided), document scanning to email or USB, puzzle hire, and “The Vault” workspace for hire.
Membership options:
• Free Casual Membership: Borrow up to 10 books, $1 fee for new releases
• Individual Membership: $12 per year – unlimited borrowing, free new releases, free WiFi each visit, discounted book delivery service
• Family Membership: $30 per year – same benefits for the whole household
Run by local volunteers, the library is a welcoming community hub offering books, services, and connection right in the heart of Hikurangi.
